NameCheap Offers .CO Registrations Tomorrow
Tomorrow, July 20, a new TLD is born! The .CO domain name is perfect for entrepreneurs and businesses aiming to promote their “company,” “corporation,” or to focus on “commerce.” Plus, .CO is highly brandable!
NameCheap is pleased to announce that we will be offering .CO domain names. Our super low price of $22.98 per year (can you find lower?) will be offered for a limited time.
Be sure to grab your domain name tomorrow at 2PM EST and tell your friends about NameCheap so that they can get the low price deal too!
July 1st Pricing Increase
Dear Valued NameCheap Customer,
On July 1st, VeriSign will be raising the prices for all registrars for .COM and .NET domains. Unfortunately, this decision impacts us and all other domain name registrars, and as a result, we will be raising our .COM and .NET domains on that date to $9.98 plus $0.18 in ICANN fees.
We highly encourage you to buy any domains you need or renew your domains before June 30, 2010 if you wish to add another year to your current expiration dates at the current low rate.
As always, you can get help from us immediately through Live Chat, by creating a support ticket, and you can get the latest NameCheap updates through Twitter and Facebook.
We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your support.
Sincere regards,
NameCheap Team

Help Us Cook for Our NameCheap Potluck & Win Domains
Pretty soon, the NameCheap gang will all meet to discuss how we can improve our offerings for you. Some of us work remotely, so it will be a very interesting experience to meet up again.
Getting together is fun, especially if you can enjoy a big meal together to celebrate. Since we have fans from all over the world, we thought it would be more interesting to ask them for their suggestions on a dish to make for a potluck. For your help, you could win a free domain or even a t-shirt from Threadless. We will announce winners on Monday.
Playing is easy. Just hop into Twitter and tweet this:
“Hey @NameCheap, (your favorite dish) would be great to serve at a #potluck.”
If you are really ambitious, consider including a picture or your favorite recipe for it.
Our hope is that we will get so many delicious dishes from around the world, someone can search for the #potluck hashtag and get all sorts of great ideas for their own kitchen.

Implementing Your Free WhoIsGuard
Remember using the Yellow Pages? The WhoIs Directory is a lot like them, but for the domain owners. You can look up domains by name or by subject and then find the contact info for the owner. Unfortunately, this makes it easy for people to get a hold of your address and spam you.
NameCheap gives you free WhoIsGuard for a year with every domain and transfer to protect you from spammers. It’s very easy to implement. Simply:
1. Log into your NameCheap account.
2. Select “view” by “Number of domains in your account”:

3. IF YOU HAVE ONE DOMAIN, simply click the domain and enact WhoIsGuard:

4. IF YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE DOMAIN, check the boxes next to the ones you want to protect with WhoIsGuard, click the “Edit Selected” button below the domains, and then choose “Allot WhoIsGuard” on the left hand side:

Remember to Auto Renew Your Important Domains
What a nightmare. You registered an important domain for your business, only to find out that you accidentally let it expire. You were so busy, you ignored the updates NameCheap sent you and now it’s owned by someone else.
Make it easy on yourself by auto-renewing your domains. Just log in to your NameCheap account, select the domain you would like to auto-renew, and then choose “Auto-Renew” from the left side “General” options:

If you’d like to do this to many or all of your domains, just select the ones you would like to auto-renew and then click “Edit Selected” underneath. You can then select “Auto-Renew” from the left side here as well:

It’s easy to protect your domain–just make sure you take the right steps.
Fed Up with Offensive Ads? Choose NameCheap
At NameCheap, we’d rather let our service, our interface, and our value do the talking than some sexist ad. If you transfer to NameCheap using coupon code SWITCH2NC, you can get 1 extra year from the remaining time on your domain for just $6.99. That means if you have a domain for 2.5 years with another company, you’ll get 3.5 years for less than seven dollars! You can transfer domains at our website here.
If you don’t know anything about us, check out what our customers have to say about us on our Facebook page. If you are already a fan, consider entering our Big Game Video Contest. You can win a Creative Vado HD Camera.
How to Report a Fraudulent Website to a Registrar
Yesterday, @sconsult and @sherlloch reported to us on Twitter that someone registered a domain with us and was using it for a Twitter phishing site. This specific scam asked for information in order to win a free iPod. Other recent scams ask Twitter users to log in to a page that looked like the Twitter login.
NameCheap takes fraud very seriously. We do everything we can to keep the internet safe for everyone. If you find out a website is fake, just follow these directions:
1.) Go to Domain Tools located here and type in the domain.
2.) Find out who the domain is registered with.
3.) Write a formal complaint in an email.
4.) Send it to the registrar’s abuse department. NameCheap’s abuse department can be reached at abuse(at)namecheap(dot)com. If we find the charge valid, we will suspend the domain.
Please keep the internet safe for everyone. Report fraud whenever you see it!
Many Thanks to All Those Who Participated in the NameCheap Twitter Trivia Contest
December was a fun month for us, with over 4000 people playing our NameCheap Twitter Trivia Contest. People played from all over the world and the contest was mentioned in Mashable and Yahoo News. We’d like to congratulate Kevin Haggerty, Jeremiah Zabal, and M Blom for answering the most questions correctly. These players any many others mastered answering questions often in less than three seconds as you can see in this video.
The contest was quite interesting for us as we got to know a lot of great people using on Twitter. We saw contestants connecting with each other and even got a marriage proposal. Interesting. We hope to launch more fun interactive ideas for our customers.
Happy New Year from everyone at NameCheap!
