Domainkeys / DKIM TXT records

Postby manda1 » Mon Mar 10, 2008 8:12 pm

I put in a support ticket, am still waiting. Maybe someone else has already figured this out...

I need to enter a Domainkey/DKIM TXT record and I can do that in namecheaps control panel and it stays and looks like it should work, but it's not really in the domains DNS info...

Here's what I have in the subdomain settings:
First box: www._domainkey.grabyourcashtoday.com
Second box: g=*; k=rsa; p=MFwwDQYJKoZIhvcNAQ(truncated for this forum)
Third box: TXT Record

But it's not really in my dns record... I try: dig www._domainkey.grabyourcash.com -t txt
and there are no txt records...

Anyone have any clues on getting this working correct?

Ok got an answer, two days later, but got it and it makes perfect sense, I should have never had this issue:

Simply put: www._domainkey in the first box instead of the whole domain...

Thanks Support!

did that help you?

when i try to paste in the first box "www._domainkey" (without ") in the first box then i always get the error:

Improper records were NOT saved!
There were issues with some records and they were either set to default or completely removed. Please review the issues below and update again appropriately.

Yes this worked just fine for me.

Just put in "www._domainkey" in the first box, your key in the second and choose txt record.

Yea I'm trying to set up a new key for a different domain and i'm getting an error also... I wish they'd make these valid. They must have done something special on mine...

I have tried entering the DKIM record both ways. Both are accepted, but produce no txt record when querying DNS.

I have left the 2 host records alone (pointing to the parking page) and chosen to point MX records to Google Apps.

I got the domain authentication and SPF records to work, but can't get ahead with DKIM.

Please help.

Hi,

It looks like the record is properly returned by our nameservers, I have PM'ed you a dig result showing this.

Thank you,
Ilya.

Thanks Ilya.

No PM received.

I don't understand what happened here. Yesterday, when I queried google._domainkey. osm-print.info on your servers I got "not found". Today I get the correct output.

I think you need to document how to do this correctly and how to do the query. This should save people setting up Google Apps a lot of grief and you a lot of support tickets.

Regards,
Peter.
